Safeguarding
At Houghton School, the safety, health and well-being of every child is our top priority.
Our teachers, teaching assistants and all other members of staff are well placed to keep a watchful eye on children’s safety and understand that they have a duty to share any safeguarding concerns in accordance with our school policies and procedures.
Safeguarding children is EVERYBODYS responsibility in school - this means every member of our staff, every visitor, every volunteer and the Governing Body.
It is also important that our children understand how to keep themselves safe and know what they can and should do if they do not. We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us.
Keeping our children safe applies to both in school and online. Teaching and helping children to be safe online is vitally important and is only likely to become more crucial in the future.
Even though Safeguarding is a collective responsibility, we have a dedicated Safeguarding Team in school.
