As a good shepherd leads, guides, cares and protects, we want the children of Houghton CE School to be inspired to go and do likewise. We want our children to be empowered by their education and experience to be champions for change - now and in the future. 

Through the teachings of Jesus, our values, our Collective Worship, our reflection areas and our lessons, we endeavour to inspire and equip our children with knowledge, courage and determination to know that can be the ones who can take action make a difference in our world.

Rooted in the Diocese’s Vision for England, Champions for Change is a bold movement of individuals and communities committed to embodying God’s justice in everyday life. These champions—lay and ordained, young and old—are catalysts for transformation, standing up for equity, dignity, and compassion in their churches, schools, and neighbourhoods. Whether advocating for racial justice, environmental stewardship, or economic fairness, they reflect the Church of England’s calling to be a beacon of hope and reconciliation. Through prayer, partnership, and practical action, Champions for Change are helping to shape a more just and loving society, inspired by the Gospel and empowered by faith.
