ftf-2014Fairtrade Fortnight

Ash Class – Learned that chocolate is made from Cocoa beans and that we need to bring beans into our country because we do not have the climate to grow our own.  Fairtrade means that the farmers who grow the beans get a fair price for their hard work.

Oak Class – Learned about the process of “Bean to Bar” and the number of workers it involved.  They produced their own flow charts to illustrate the process.

Willow Class – Discovered which country everyday Fairtrade products came from e.g., Chocolate, Honey, Bananas, Cotton, Quinoa and illustrated this by making shopping baskets containing Fairtrade products.

Beech Class – Learned about the importance of Fairtrade bananas and how the Fairtrade farmers wages are protected allowing them to provide a better way of life for their communities and families.

Year 5 – Investigated “WHO, WHAT and WHERE” Fairtrade had influenced and produced fantastic posters.
