School Council

badgeThe school council is made up of representatives from year two to year six, who put themselves forward for a vote.

The rest of their classmates then anonymously vote for candidate whom they believe would best represent their year group. This year the school council has two representatives from year six, two from year five, two from year four, two from year three and two from year two. Once elected the children spend a full school year as a council member and are involved in many things.

They take on the roles of chair, vice chair, administrator’s and link coordinator’s for the younger children. The chair leads the meetings supported by the vice chair, Miss Graham. The administrator’s take minutes of what is discussed. We hold meetings to discuss any matters that the children would like to discuss and we also lead whole school assemblies around current topics.

The school council members are there to listen to the rest of their class and school about their wants and needs and then discuss these at the meeting. They write down ideas and requests from class members and bring them to the meetings.

Every year the school council organise a whole school fund raising event and often have stalls at our Christmas and Summer Fairs.

This half term (Spring 2) the School Council in corporation with Miss Graham will be organising Toast Tuesday to raise money o support teaching and learning in all classes.

This year we are raising money for a playtrail for our school. This is going to take a lot of time and effort and we hope everyone at school and the local community will support us.
