British Values Day
Today our school celebrated British Values and discussed what these mean to us. As a class we spent the morning exploring democracy which tied in nicely with our School Council elections.
All of Year 3 were given the option to run for a place on the school council, those who decided they were up for the challenge then wrote their own persuasive speeches to read to their class mates! We have such a great group of confident speakers who really wrote from the heart about why they would make great school council members.
Last years member Daisy gave a speech on how rewarding the school council is and urged people to think about the difference they can make, she also made sure everyone understood that it is also a responsibility and the children should be sure they are ready!
After hearing each others speeches the children had time to think about who they would like to vote for, a secret ballot took place and the winners were announced. A huge congratulations to Joba and Eden who secured the most votes!!
All of the children showed such respect to one another throughout the process and although we had some obvious disappointment over not becoming a member the children all congratulated eachother on their efforts.
Take a look at our photos from throughout the process.
