World War II Music

June 30, 2014

music-clipartOn Thursday, Year 5 and 6 were visited by 4 very talented musicians from Carlisle Music Centre. The workshop lasted all morning and taught the children how to play various percussion instruments as an ensemble but also taught them about World War Two through some of the songs from the period. The children had a great time and learnt a lot. They were particularly impressed with the musical talents of the teachers, who played the soprano saxophone, the bassoon and keyboard. By the end of the morning Niall Siddaway and Dorina Hovarth were playing Beethoven on the keyboard while all the other children accompanied them on percussion.

All of the visiting teachers commented on how great the children were, how beautifully behaved and enthusiastic they were and how they were a credit to the school! Well done to all the children in Year 5 and 6!
