Remembrance Day

November 19, 2015

On Wednesday 11th November, four children from Rowan Class represented the school at the Remembrance Day service in town. The children joined lots of other schools in a procession from the Tithe Barn to the Cenotaph, where they took part in the service to remember and honour the servicemen and women who had given their lives from World War One to the present day. Esme Tweedie was chosen as one of six children from schools across the city to read a prayer during the service. Esme read so beautifully and clearly and was asked to repeat her prayer for ITV after the service and featured on the news that evening. Well done Esme, you are a credit to our school. Thank you to all the children: Esme Tweedie, Rosa North, Fran Telford and Amy Boyle  – you were perfect ambassadors for Houghton School. Thank you Rosa for helping to write such a lovely prayer with Esme.
