Oak Class’ Burns Supper

June 17, 2014

Robert-BurnsThis term Oak class have been learning all about Scotland. To bring this topic to an end we hosted our own Burns Supper on Wednesday 11th June. The children have learnt who burns is and why people in Scotland and around the world celebrate him on the 25th of January. we took this as an opportunity to show the parents the knowledge and skills we have gained during this topic. The day was started by the wonderful sounds of the bag pipes, played by George Kinnaird. The parents and children then enjoyed their meal including Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, which was prepared by Oak class with some help from Mrs Murdock. We followed some traditions of a Burns Supper such as the Address to the Haggis, selkirk grace and the Immortal Memory. We finished our Burns supper by performing for the parents and everyone joined in with Auld Lang Syne. Thank You everyone who supported the event, we hope you had a great time.
